This painting was inspired by a Plein air event in the Chanticleer gardens

It was a windy blustery summer day so my first challenge was to find a sheltered area to set up my easel. The light was fleeting, moving rapidly over the landscape but it was the laughter and chatter of three women having a picnic that alerted my senses.

My heart sank as I looked and listened, feeling an overwhelming sense of loneliness as I missed my friends back home in Ireland. Feeling emotional I painted this scene in the hope of capturing the uplifting atmosphere
